Description: 

12017 is a porphyritic rock with a medium-grained, variolitic to subophitic groundmass. Its surface is part covered by micrometeorite pits and part by a large glass coating. Pyroxene crystals are compositionally zoned. Ilmenite, chromite and troilite present as accessory species.

The sample weighed 53 grams before analysis and is 3.19±0.07 billion years old (whole rock Ar/Ar).
